With Duke getting a lot of pub
You better believe he'll be the focus of the defense against Kansas St. They will shadow him wherever he goes. Might be a good idea for Fisch to use him as a decoy on occasions, use some play action in this game with Duke and hit the TE up the seam.

I was thinking myself of how Duke may be an effective decoy.
Two tight ends in snugged up, and Duke in the backfield receiving all of KS's attention.
Now. What would that possibly give us?

Well the secret is out now & he definitely has their attention. Now we get to see how creative our coaches are. This can go either way for us, positive or negative.

How many plays was Duke in for? Honestly the numbers are a bit skewed. He only ran 7 times & caught 3 balls.
Rest in Peace, theu75.

What are defenses gonna do any differently that would focus on Duke? You still have to play your assignments. It's not like they can just follow Duke around.
There is no defense for stopping a good RB. It's not like stopping a stud WR where you can use bracket coverage or put your best Corner on him.
The only thing they can do to stop Duke is put more defenders in the box. That's when we should go up top. (deep)

I think with Dye starting at TE and Henderson ready to JUMBO package the hell out of them.... WE ARE GOING TO RUN RUN RUN until they stop us. Duke will carry the ball 15 plus times. TRY and stop us. I think were in for 40 plus carries. MJ 20,+ OT 10-15, Duke 15+

I can see putting Duke motioning to the slot position and try to get a LB on him. Like Coach Fisch said he will be creating mismatches and try to get the ball in his playmakers hands.

When a rb like Duke motions out , lined up inthe backfield or is flexed wide the defense knows . There's eleven sets of eyes on that guy, that makes busts happen in assignments . PA to duke , pump fake to him on a flat route or any other form of trickery using duke inhances the chances of a breakdown .
It reminds me of the Terrell Davis play in the Super Bowl against GB, he had a migraine and went out the game . It was a huge play inside the five, Shanahan asked him to go back in the game just as a decoy , the PA boot would be hard to sell with him on the bench.
Football has used rb's like Faulk, Bush, Craig , Westbrook,Ray Rice and McCoy as matchup problems or decoys. Just by those guys flexing out it causes uncertainty or anxiousness.
It's just natural , like a hot chick walking through traffic and causing a wreck. Your assignment is to safely drive your car with eyes on the road but you can't help but look.

I actually think you will see more of the same as last week. I see us passing a lot of the short passes as they have a fairly weak pass defense. They were ten yards off the ball with that D2 team. They will undoubtedly be back from our guys. I see alot of swings, slants, bubble screens (some to Duke), and hitches just like we saw this week. Which would be great as we would not necessarily have to show a ton of our stuff too early.
