I don't know why anybody is saying that our guys ran out of their gaps during run plays. They're lined up in their gaps. It's hard to free-lance and run out of your gap when you're LINED UP IN IT. The problem wasn't free-lancing so much, the problem was the fact that our guyswould get MOVED OUT OF THEIR GAP. Our interior guys often played on skates and allowed interior offensive linemen to reach our Linebackers. Combine this with inconsistent Linebacker play and there you have our problem.

Our scheme required D-linemen to get penetration and that's what Petri helped them do. Petri can't control Micanor Regis or Marcus Forston's effort. (or Colin McCarthy's poor angles) Many of our problems simply had to do with the fact that our interior guys just flat out got their a$$es kicked.

D'Onofrio uses all different schemes on his fronts. Sometimes our guys are 2-gap players. Sometimes they angle/slant into their gap. Sometimes we line-up in a conventional one-gap scheme. If you check youtube footage from last season you'll see us run all kinds of stuff on the defensive front.
Yea, thanks, lol. I didn't wanna' mention players being weak and start that whole Swasey thing again. Watching the DL at it's poorest against Wisconsin in '09 was absolutely sickening. At least they had a little technique in 2010.

Should have multi-quoted this but, I'd HAVE to guess it had something to do with good coaching in the NFL vs what Barrow has to offer. He has them playing solid, but by no means at an elite level.

No secret we were weak and soft, I'll never deny that. I was at the Wis game and that was one of the most pathetic displays ever.

I remembered being at the game and I was astonished how much we were getting thrown around. Amazing that we were within a touchdown of sending the game to OT. At least the last two minutes of the game was good.

Very weird game. We were down six but just watching the game it looked more like 42-7. They dominated every part of the game, grown men versus kids.

I knew leaving there we were in trouble the next year and increased my concerns about Randy. It left a very bad taste in my mouth after a 9 win season.

Wisconsin was settling for FG attempts when they could've probably converted 4th down tries if they wanted to. That game could've EASILY been out of hand and the scoreboard doesn't show how truly lopsided that game was.

    ATLCane513 and CaneDynasty like this.

Miami played D1 football for literally four minutes of the game, & I remember squealing to my wife "We could take this thing to OT?!"

    Of course we didn't.

    Rest in Peace, theu75.
