You are absolutely right GodFather! At this point there are a lot of people wanting a change so once the conversations start to heat up - no matter how tight lipped they are supposed to be - word will get out! This potential news has brightened up my weekend. I hope it gets better and comes to fruition.

A lot of you guys don't know me. I'm as far from an insider as you can get. I'm honored to be able to read here, & post on occasion. The Canes are something of a legacy between my deceased father & myself. Don't know how to follow another team on the planet like them. It's more than football. Whatever.
I digress. I have never wanted a coach to succeed more than Shannon. Everything about his life, his quirks, even his trial & error learning curve. He was a Cane, is still a Cane & understands the U like I--realistically--never will. While his means of promoting the program has been odd & the results lacking, I've supported him on board after board, asking for cogent discussions on the overall direction of the program, rather than simple, childish & emotional screaming contests.
One chief reason for this has been that righting this ship was tantamount to coming off probation, coupled with the fact that RS had never been a HC. I was fine with him learning, & that taking several years. Just wanted to see improvement season to season. The other reason, is that Miami is the bastard success child of CFB. Every single coach that won with us has left. We're nationally maligned & quickly disregarded. Some of these trolls approach the game like we should fart & get 5-stars & 5 million dollar coaches. That's never been Miami. Five NCs in 30 years, "if we were Texas or Oklahoma they'd build statues of us", etc. I don't expect NCs every other year; I expect identity, swag & wins. Lots of wins. The NCs just happen.
We aren't winning. & we're losing in dismal fashion. This game is about Ws, & my affinity for RS has kept me from accepting certain, terminal traits on this team. We need a change, before this thing gets out of hand. We need the right guy, & what tears me up nearly as badly as the state of our program is that Shannon is not the guy. It's taken me four years to say that. But I believe it. Additionally, I have nearly zero confidence that we'll find the right guy. The Beast pointed out some solid reasons as to why Miami isn't the most attractive place for a HC a few weeks back, & confirmed some of my own while knowledgeably adding others.
We need an identity. We need a new coach. It is what it is.

Excellent post. First, I am sorry for the loss of your dad-- the pain never goes away. I also wanted to give Randy all the benefit of the doubt, even after the FSU game. i wanted to give him one last chance. But seeing how we have played since then, I totally agree with you. We need a change. Take care and good night.

Sorry Ive been away, so frustrated with our team... Anyway, fastcar888 isn't me and right now there hasn't been anything definitive talked about... Hocutt and Randy typically meet every monday morning and I will see if there is anything different from the norm talked about... I do know that one of UMs biggest boosters will FOR SURE cover several costs associated with bringing in a new coach and cleaning up the mess from the old staff... Shannons contract did have a clause that HE MUST reach certain goals in order to receive his total buyout... Several KEY financial backers are saying they will do what they need to in order to make the change... As of tonight he's still the coach of UM and will likely be throughout this year... As for next season we will know that within the next few days... Contract stuff takes a while to clean up and handle and if it's going to happen they will start the process very quickly... Talk to you guys in the late morning...Later!

Hey guys!
Someone on scout.com is reporting that the rumor about shannon is false. I know it's a rumor and the goal is to validate whether its true or not; however, does anyone know if there is any validity to the rumor or is it just someone trying to stir up the pot? I've had enough disappointments this season and would like it to end on a high with a replacement.
