I believe one of the worst things that happens to a major college program is
to have a highly rated class and highly rated and heavily recruited players.
Highly rated recruits,for the most part,are convinced they will be in the
NFL shortly.Most many of the Canes tackle,poorly not because they can't tackle
but to avoid career ending injuries.How quickly Erickson and Bratten fell from
their projected #1 draft choice,after major injuries are two good reminders.
Also,these highly recruited players are hardly going to put team first,after
all I've been told I'm a star since 8th grade.Read up on Michael Irvin's background.
The U needs to look at why Boise,BYU,Utah and Wisc.always seem to have
good winning programs today w/o #1 recruits.Could it be,because they copied
the U of the 80's and 90's?

Not so sure about BYU always having good winning programs but in truth they should freakin dominate since their kids are 2 years older than everyone else in college football due to the required mission trip they have to take at that school.

Boise and Wisc. are good because of player development and coaching. Doesn't have as much to do with recruiting stars but attitude, work ethic, coachability and system. The schools mentioned aren't copying the U of the 80's and 90's. None of those schools could touch those teams when it came to team speed and nasty attitude. The old U had you beat before you even stepped on the field, we intimidated the hell out of people before the game even started.

Im not worried about the monster class FSU put together. A few years back we had the No.1 class and Clemson had No.2 and you see where that got us and Clemson. This is the year that class should pay off now that they are all Seniors and RS Juniors.. You can land 15 top 150s and if you don't have good coaches then its all for nothing in a way.. I truely believe we have better coaches than FSU so we will see how it plays out.. this is gonna be a long offseason...

What are you smoking? Go look at Bama or some of the UF teams from the past 6,or so years, the USC teams from a few years ago and then come back here and say that having highly recruited players is a bad thing. How many national championships have Utah, Wisconsin, BYU, and Boise won?

Ratings and NSD are only a snapshot of the incoming recruits on NSD.It does not take into account
late arrivals;ie Seantrel and his effect on a school's ranking.It does not evulate the need of the team
vs.incoming recruits.It does not take into account a early enrolled student vs.a fall enrolled student.
They do not take into account transfers and impact of JC players.Shockey started from day one and
was a JC.
Are ratings a bad thing?No there just overrated!

There is no denying fsu, Clemson, and other schools got great athletes in their classes, but that is nothing new. Both schools have a track record of failing to develop them.

Our only hope is that ag can develop our talent better than the last regime.

Not always datruth, but it is relevant when you think about a 22 year old going against an 18 to 19 year old out of high school. Their basketball program is more prevelant with the players going on a mission thing- Usually they send them down to Argentina where the so called "mission" is playing in basketball leagues to hone skills. I was born and raised in Wyoming, so going to a Pokes game against BYU is like a state event (that metropolis state of Wyoming with less than 500,000 total population) with the crowd yelling back and forth "Fuck You BYU." There really is a true hate for that school due to their success over the years.
