Wide receiver Austin Roberts (62/195) just finished up a family vacation down in Miami (Fla.) before leaving the Sunshine State for good. He is moving to Indianapolis (Ind.) to attend Carmel High School. While down in Coral Gables, he was able to take an unofficial visit to the University of Miami and get a chance to see all of the chances being made to the campus.
I enjoyed everything I saw, Roberts said of the college that offered him. I was able to build a relationship with a couple of coaches, Coach (Art) Kehoe, Hurlie Brown and the offensive coordinator Jedd Fisch. They showed me around the campus. They are building a new locker room for the players and coaches. They are also building a new student union and medical building.
After the visit, he left impressed. I definitely like them, Roberts said. I am going to take another visit there. I do like how the coaches said they are going to make the group closer like they were in the 80s. I saw they were one family in the weight room. Antonio Crawford (Roberts former Tampa (Fla.) Plant HS teammate and current UM player) was busy working out. I came over and said whats up, but then he had to get back to work.
While it is still early to start narrowing down his college choices, the 2014 athlete will be cutting down his list after his junior season.
