Last Sunday was Rising Senior Day along with Miami’s first scrimmage of camp. A couple of uncommitted prospects took part, but it mostly consisted committed athletes.
--South Florida 2014 defensive back Quincy Wilson checked out UM’s scrimmage last Sunday with his dad, former Cane DB Chad Wilson. the younger Wilson, 6’2 and 185-pounds, can see himself fitting in the Miami program but has yet to receive an offer.
On why he went to the scrimmage: “I just went out there to watch the DBs and just watch them practice,” Wilson said. “I know Deon (Bush), Jelani (Hamilton), David Perry and Tracy (Howard). It was cool to see them out there in college doing good.”

--Carmel (Ind.) wide out Austin Roberts is staying in contact with the coaches from UM. He has a good relationship with coach Art Kehoe and talks with him regularly. The Canes offered the 6’2, 210-pound standout and they’ve been one of his top schools since.
On allegations that Miami head coach Al Golden violated recruiting rules: "I doubt that would have happened. It went in one ear and out the other.”

--2013 WR Levonte Whitfield made it official this past Monday when he committed to FSU. While it didn’t surprise many, it did bring closure to those fans that were hopeful he would join their program. At 5’8, 170-pounds, Whitfield brings elite speed and play-making ability to the table.
On why he chose FSU over Ohio State, Clemson and Miami: “I committed to Florida State because my cousin (Noles WR Marvin Bracy), the track program and all of the coaches love me up there,” Whitfield said. “They show me a lot of love. I like the chemistry down there. I like the atmosphere down there.”

--Atlantic HS (Delray Beach, Fla.) DT Keith Bryant (6’2/300) attended Miami’s Rising Senior Day. He talked with all of the coaches and got to mingle with current and potential UM commitments.
On which colleges are recruiting him the hardest outside of UM: “South Carolina, USC, Florida State and Oklahoma,”

--Brisly Estime, a 2013 athlete from Delray Beach (Fla.) Atlantic, checked out the scrimmage Sunday, but went home right after. The standing talk with the Miami coaching staff is that if he has a good senior season, they will offer.
On the scrimmage: “It was good. I mean everybody knows their part and what to do. They were running good.”

--Miami offered wide out James Clark and we haven’t heard much since. He is staying humble during the process and plans to wait before making his decision. The 5’11, 170-pounder was really impressed by the coaching staff during a visit he took last season when the Canes played Georgia Tech.
On the UM program: “It is a good school. I like what they are doing football wise. They have a great football program, great business program. I will always keep them as an option.”

--Rumors spread about Miami (Fla.) Booker T. Washington LB Matthew Thomas (6’3/200) being committed to FSU. He quickly shut them down while speaking with CaneInsider.com the other day. He remains focused on his season and isn’t concerned with recruiting at the moment.
