-Orlando (Fla.) Boone running back AJ Turman (6'0/205) has been out of contact with the UM coaches for a while, but says he will get back in touch with them this week. Miami is definitely a school he's considering and he will start to narrow down his options during the season. The Canes will get a visit, whether it will be official or not is yet to be determined.
--Miami TE commit Jeremy Kerr is planning to take all of his official visits, but fans shouldn't be worried as he told CaneInsider.com that he can't imagine anything preventing him from becoming a Cane. The St. Petersburg (Fla.) athlete has developed a good bond with fellow Miami commits Alex Gall and Standish Dobard.
--Miami (Fla.) Booker T. Washington High School has two main Hurricane targets for the class of 2013. CaneInsider.com caught up with linebacker Matthew Thomas and offensive lineman Denver Kirkland after they defeated south Florida powerhouse Miami (Fla.) Northwestern. Thomas, 6’3 and 205-pounds, said that he is “committed to Booker T” emphasizing that he is done with recruiting for the time being. You can tell from the video interview that the recruiting process has taken its toll. He claims that he doesn't answer calls from coaches and isn’t focused on any particular school. This comes not long after he named FSU as his leader.
--Kirkland, 6’5 and 335-pounds, will be narrowing down his college choices towards mid-season. USC, Florida State, Miami, South Florida and Florida are the schools standing out at the moment. He noticed Miami freshman offensive lineman Ereck Flowers getting early playing time at the UM scrimmage a few weeks back. The Canes are in good standing with him at the moment.
--American Heritage (Plantation, Florida) 2014 running back Sony Michel made his “comeback” last Friday night and did great. He performed as if he never hurt his knee and showed why he gets so much national attention from colleges. Although he only had 37-yards and a score, his performance said much more than that. The Canes are in good shape for the 6’0, 190-pound back, but he’s not a lock by any means. Colleges such as Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, Georgia and Notre Dame will all be pushing hard for his services.
