UM Recruiting Notes 8/26
Recruiting has been slow lately and everyone is wondering when the next commit will happen and who it will be. The staff has their last 5-7 targets in mind and do not appear to be rushing it, but don't be surprised as a commitment can come at any moment.
--Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) University School played on national television today against Trotwood (Ohio) and 2015 running back Jordan Scarlett stole the show in the first half. He likes the Canes and holds an early offer. Man-child is the name used to describe him and it’s very accurate. He’s 5’11, 200-pounds starting his sophomore year. He is a tough, downhill runner that is very fast in the open field. He can handle a big work load and teams will have to plan around him this year.
--Another player stoodout today on University School and that was 2013 linebacker Skai Moore (6’3/210). He won MVP at the Al Golden Football Camp this summer and had some impressive plays including a blocked punt in the end zone and a pick six. He’s one of those under-the-radar recruits despite have a plethora of offers. The Canes haven’t offered at this point and it doesn't seem likely they will.
-- As reported yesterday, Westlake, Louisiana TE standout Jacory Washington (6’5/210) is interested in Miami. He claims that any college has a shot to land him despite growing up a LSU fan and holding an offer from them. His athletic ability is outstanding for a kid his size and it will allow him to get offers at wide out as well.
