UM Recruiting Notes 7/4
--Omari Phillips, 2012 OT from Venice (Fla.), was denied entry to Florida and is now looking around. He has great size at 6’6, 270-pounds, and is very athletic. He was once set to take a visit down to Miami, but many suspected that it was only to help his teammate, Forrest Lamp, land an offer. Now, being so late in the recruiting process and over 5 months since national signing day, Phillips is considering many programs that he ruled out earlier this year. He is also teammates with Miami 2012 running back commit Danny Dillard.
--Miramar (Fla.) linebacker Jermiane Grace (6'2/210) is still in contact with the Canes and has them high on his list. He will be taking his visits once the season starts and is also talking to Penn State and Tennessee.
--2013 LB Skai Moore, from University School, attended the Al Golden Football Camp and did well. The 6’3, 215-pound linebacker was awaiting a call from the coaches, but it never came. Now, he named his top schools and Miami is not one of them.
--Ft. Lauderdale (Fla.) University School defensive back, Quincy Wilson, has family history with the Canes. Despite being recruited as one of the top corners for 2014, Miami has yet to offer. He feels they will eventually, but aren’t showing him much interest right now. Schools such as Ohio State, LSU, Auburn, Clemson are all showing him interest and have offered.
--Young 2014 CB Nigel Patten (5'10/165) said that Miami is showing the most interest. Miami linebacker coach Michael Barrow is recruiting Booker T, and is definitely aware of him. He will emerge to be one of the top prospects in both football and track this upcoming year. He is from the same school as former Cane standout and current Houston Texan cornerback Brandon Harris (5'10/175).
