UM Recruiting Notes 7/11
--The Matthew Thomas saga continues as conflicting views have come to light. A source very close to the Booker T. program stated that Thomas will stay home and attend Miami. This is contrary to what the 6’3, 200-pound linebacker told CaneInsider.com. He named Alabama and Florida State as front runners with Miami trailing. This could be another situation where nobody really knows what is going to happen and rumors will be flying around until NSD.
--On the subject of linebackers, Jermaine Grace of Miramar (Fla.) High School is still in contact with the Miami coaching staff. He claims that his final decision will come down to signing day like fellow teammate and 2012 Miami commitment Tracy Howard.
--Miami (Fla.) Booker T.Washington CB Nigel Patten has been getting letters from several top programs including Miami. The 2014 multi-sport athlete likes the Canes and works out with Brandon Harris, Ray-Ray Armstrong and Brandon McGee. He is not the tallest corner at 5’9, but has great speed and acceleration.
--2014 offensive lineman Garrett Brumfield (6’3270) camped at Miami a few weeks ago and landed an offer. However, it looks like the coaches have their work cut out for them as the Baton Rouge (La.) Laboratory School athlete grew up a fan of Florida and LSU. The Gators have offered and he is camping at LSU this weekend to earn an offer there.
