Reggie Northrup was a highly recruited prospect coming out of the Jacksonville (Fla.) area. He holds offers from Auburn, Louisville, South Carolina and Notre Dame among others. His skill set as a linebacker is impressive and he makes a great addition to Miami’s 2012 recruiting class. He is one of five committed linebackers with Raphael Kirby, Keith Brown, Josh Witt and James Burgess, Jr. being the other four.

As a Prospect: The north Florida talent has what you are looking for in a linebacker at the next level. He is 6-foot-2 and 217 pounds. At most, another 15 pounds and he is a solid prospect at the next level. His speed is good, but not great. However, he is fast enough to play in coverage. He is a downhill linebacker that can pack a punch on point of impact. He runs well and has a good frame. He is a high character kid and team leader.
Final Thoughts: With his other top school being North Carolina, it is safe to say he will be a ‘Cane on national signing day because of the firing of Butch Davis at UNC. He was recruited hard and Miami will be a good fit for him. Although he has to go against some big names to get a starting spot, he is more than capable of the job. His combination of size, tackling ability, character and athleticism are what make him a top linebacker prospect.
Quotes: “I am looking for coaches that are going to push me and being able to compete.”
