South Florida talent is always talked about and for the 2013 recruiting class, a popular name is Matthew Thomas. The five star linebacker named his top college choices.
“Alabama, Florida State, Georgia, Miami and that’s about it,” Thomas said of the colleges that he is currently considering.
As far as visits, he recently went to Coral Gables to check-in on the University of Miami.
“I don’t know when I will be making it back to Miami because I just went there Wednesday (6/27),” Thomas said. “It went good. I saw how the players did their workout. The coach went on the board and showed me the depth chart situation.”
While down in Miami, the 6’3, 200-pound prospect was able to talk with the head coach and his position coach.
“I talked with Coach (Michael) Barrow and Coach (Al) Golden,” Thomas said. “[Golden] is a cool guy. He told me he is trying to restructure and get the program where it used to be at.”
He admitted that the depth chart looks favorable and that the UM coaches are looking for taller linebackers. Right now, there is no set date for his commitment.
“It don’t matter, whenever I feel like I commit and feel that it’s going to be my final decision, I’ll commit. If not, I am going to ride it out until signing day.”
