Ft. Lauderdale (Fla.) University School wide receiver Jordan Cunningham is one of the most recruited athletes in Florida. He has well over 30 offers including ones from top level programs in the SEC and ACC. At the Dolphins 7-on-7 tournament, CaneInsider.com caught up with the talented prospect to see where he was at in the recruiting process. The result, Cunningham named his top five.
“Highly (recruiting me are) Miami, Notre Dame, Alabama, FSU and Stanford,” Cunningham said. “They are the top five and the top schools that have been recruiting me. Right now in order it’s UM and Stanford at the top, then Notre Dame, Alabama and FSU.”
At this point in his recruitment, he is learning as much as he can about his top five to make an educated decision.
“I am just visiting the campuses,” Cunningham said. “I am going to Stanford on the 21st. I am a big guy on academics, so the academics that Stanford brings are a big deal to me. So, we’ll see.”
There was once a rumor of Cunningham almost committing to the University of Miami, but then shied away because of the NCAA implications. However, Cunningham claims that was nothing more than internet talk. “I was never close to committing,” Cunningham said about the rumor.
Cunningham, 6’3 and 175-pounds, is close to the UM program and recently visited the campus.
“I just went there Friday and talked to Coach (George) McDonald and all of the coaches,” Cunningham said. “I talked to Coach McDonald the most. He is a good guy. He is funny. We just chill, it’s not always about football. We just have good conversations. He is always trying to get me to commit, but he knows I am going to make an educated decision.”
Stanford is high on Cunningham’s list for a lot of the same reasons Miami is.
“That is one of the main reasons they are on my list because of the academics that they have,” Cunningham said of Stanford. “They are also a good football program and I plan on going out to see it.”
