In 2009, then a player for the Pasadena Lakes Optimist Panthers in Pembroke Pines, Fla., a young Devonte Phillips proved that he was one of the area's best athletes as only a 7th grader. On his own, he completely dominated an opposing team featuring current division one recruits in South Florida.
Now he sports offers from Clemson, Florida Sate, Alabama and the University of Miami. After having only played his freshman season of high school football, Miami Central High School's Devonte Phillips is a rising star. In only one year he's become integral to the offense featuring a pair of 2014 stud RB recruits in Joe Yearby and Dalvin Cook, having made major contributions to a state runner up team in FHSAA's 6A class in 2011. Watch as CaneInsider affiliate, Football Hotbed interviews Phillips, who is sporting a University of Miami T-shirt during the interview at the Nike 7 on 7 on June 30th in Hialeah, FL.
