The Miami Hurricanes coaches have made a serious emphasis on recruiting the Tampa (Fla.) area. One of their main 2014 targets is Tampa Jesuit (Tampa, FL) LB Vincent Jackson.
Jackson seems to be enjoying the recruiting process saying “It’s going great, picked up almost 20 offers this spring.” Schools showing interest include USC, Florida and West Virginia.
When asked what he likes about the Canes, he said “the city of Miami is great, it’s a private school. It’s also a great law school, thats what I plan on doing in case sports don’t work.”
Coaches Brennan Carroll and Al Golden are coaches he speaks with mostly. “I like Coach Carroll, he is really nice and I like Coach Golden a lot, seems like he is one of my favorite coaches.”
While the rising junior prospect doesn’t have an official list of top schools, he states his current favorites, in no order, are “Miami, Clemson, Georgia, USC, West Virginia, Alabama and Florida.”
The 6’2 and 230 pound LB does have a connection with a current Miami Hurricane commitment. Tight end Travis Johnson is teammates with him and they have a good relationship. While he is friends with Johnson, that will not be a factor in his college decision.
"We go to the same school, of course, we are close friends," Jackson said. "But I won't make my decision based on where he goes. If we so happen to choose the same school, then it will happen."
When choosing a college, he will be looking for “Somewhere I can fit in on the roster and the type of degree I can achieve.”
