Wide receiver James Clark has over 20 scholarship offers including Auburn, West Virginia, Georgia Tech, Miami, Mississippi State, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Purdue, Penn State, Iowa State, UMASS, Rutgers, South Florida and Vanderbilt.
“I have been getting a little bit of less interest right now because colleges are doing workouts getting ready, their season is coming up,” Clark said about the latest in recruiting. “And then my season is coming up.”
The New Smyrna Beach (Fla.) High School product is planning to go on official visits to find out more about colleges that have offered him.
“I will take all five but I am not sure where I’m going yet,” Clark said.
There is a reason why he hasn’t set up any visits. “I haven’t narrowed it down because I feel like my recruiting is not over yet. I have a lot more offers that can come in.”
Without one school recruiting him harder than the other, they all remain on a level playing field.
When asked about the Miami Hurricanes, he said “It is a good school. I like what they are doing football wise. They have a great football program, great business program. I will always keep them as an option.”
He continued.
“I did go down there when they played Georgia Tech and I got to sit down with some of the coaches,” Clark said. “I could tell they understand the game of football and basically just top level coaches. Top in the country.”
Clark, 5’11 and 170-pounds, doesn’t have an exact timetable for his commitment. “I will try to wait until the season is over and it’s closer to signing day.”
In track, he runs the 100-meter and 200-meter dash posting impressive times of “10.43 and 21.51,” respectively. He even made it to the state track meet last season.
“I didn’t do as good this year," Clark said. "I got fifth in the 100m and sixth in the 200m.”
