This weekend Melbourne (Fla.) Palm Bay High School star Caleb Alves made a name for himself at the BMOC Florida 7-on-7 tournament at the IMG Academy. He threw touchdowns, caught touchdowns and even prevented touchdowns on defense.
“Yesterday at the 7-on-7 we won,” Alves said. “I did pretty good. I played both sides of the ball---safety, receiver and quarterback. I enjoyed myself. I dominated and had fun.”
The 2013 prospect isn’t new to recruiting, holding almost 10 offers, but is still searching for more.
“I have eight or nine offers so far,” Alves said. “The University of Memphis, FIU, South Alabama, Bethune, UMASS and Bowling Green are the ones I can name off of the top of my head. They offered me at athlete. They like me at safety and receiver.”
Some of the colleges he is looking to get noticed by are “Miami, Florida State and LSU.”
“I like the way they play defense,” Alves said about the University of Miami. “June 23 I will be there (at the Al Golden Camp). I am trying to get offered. I want to go there and impress to get an offer.”
He continued to talk about his other two schools of interest.
“LSU, I like the way the coaches coach down there. Florida State has always been one of my favorite teams growing up, them and Miami.”
He is looking for a college that will “help me succeed and get me better in academics.”
Alves, 6’2 and 185-pounds, has a “2.7 core GPA and 18” on his ACT.
